If you have already registered for the 2026 River Clean Up, there is no need for you to continue reading. If you haven’t registered, this is for you! The Upper Guadalupe River Authority (UGRA) has scheduled the 22nd annual River Clean Up for Saturday, July 25, 2026 starting at 8 AM. The headquarters for the River Clean Up will be at Flat Rock Park in Kerrville and volunteers will spread out to clean up locations throughout the Guadalupe River watershed in Kerr County including dry creek beds, bridges, drainage ditches and roadways. Sign up today and, in the next month, keep your eyes on the UGRA webpage and social media pages for more details. If you are registering as a group, please make sure each participant in the group is registered individually. Please explore all the content on the webpage including links to the 2024 River Clean Up Survey – We value your feedback and are always working to improve the event for YOU. Also posted to the webpage is the 2024 River Clean Up Press Release and Recap Video. To those who have participated in previous River Clean Ups, this year will look a little different. After cleaning up around the county, volunteers will still meet at Flat Rock Park to drop off trash, enjoy refreshments and visit the ecological fair. The fair will be expanded to include community resources, art activities, and information about restoration efforts. Thank you for your interest and we look forward to hearing from you. If you have any questions, please contact me. The River Clean up will be July 25th at Flat Rock Park. For the Ecological and Community Resources Fair booths, we are asking that they be set up and ready to go by 10 AM. That is about when volunteers start bringing their trash back to the park to drop off and enjoy the fair and refreshments. The event ends around noon, so that’s about when y’all can start breaking down as well. We can provide a table, however, y’all will need to bring any chairs or a canopy if desired in addition to all the art supplies or anything needed to do the project. If Rotarians want to help kids make American Flags from flood wood, they can show up at 10 am or earlier. Event ends at noon. Tasks will include helping to make sure the kids have paints, brushes, cleaning and drying spaces, and just artful encouragement. |

Hello Rotarians, The July 16th flood postponed our annual River Clean Up, but now we are moving forward with a different format and focus. This most recent flood caused extensive damage to property, homes, and businesses along the creeks in Kerrville and throughout Kerr County. Rather than host one large cleanup event, we are going to support several smaller clean ups and first focus on the creeks that were hit hardest. Our first clean up of this phased approach will be the Town Creek Clean Up on Friday, September 18th from 8 am - noon. We are looking for around 75 - 100 volunteers for this event. There will be multiple clean up opportunities, so if you are unable to make this one, keep an eye out for more in the future. The Town Creek Clean Up is only a few weeks away, so register today on the UGRA River Clean Up Webpage! If you have questions, please feel free to reach out. Thanks! Best, Matt W.

Saturday, September 19 is our Rise Against Hunger event. We will pack just over 10,000 meals. We are holding the event in the morning this year so shifts available are 7:30 AM to noon. This event is part of our Family Weekend so Schreiner students and their parents will also be helping us pack meals. Rise Against Hunger will be held in the new Edington Sports Performance Complex (Formerly known as Edington Gym), across from the Logan Library, on the campus of Schreiner University. Our shifts are as follows:
7:30 AM to 9:00 AM for event set up
9:00 AM to 10:00 AM for meal packing
10:00 AM to 11:00 AM for meal packing
11:00 AM to noon for event clean up
We need about 15 people for set up, as many as 60 for each meal packing shift and then 15 for tear down and clean up.
