The program at the meeting last Wednesday was Schreiner University's Center for Talent and Workforce Development (CTWD). Former Kerrville Rotary Club president Marta Diffen introduced the speakers.
Dr. Melissa Allen is the Director of the CTWD. The Center for Talent and Workforce Development provides career training, certifications and continuing education for both students and working adults. The program provides job training programs in high demand fields including Banking, Healthcare, Mechatronics, Nursing, Real Estate, Software and IT, Project Management, Viticulture and Professional Development.
The program offers certifications for people already in the workforce, to allow them to advance in their field. The certifications are also beneficial to students in various majors who want to add practical skills and internships to the degree they are pursuing.
Ladena Odem is the Assistant Director.
The Center is meant to serve a diverse demographic, including high school graduates/GED, the unemployed or underemployed, businesses, those seeking a career transition and lifelong learners. Recognizing the need for expanded opportunities in other fields, additional career paths coming soon include Sales, Hospitality and Automotive Technology.
