Bill Rector provided a classification talk at the meeting last Wednesday. Bill was a radiologist in Kerrville for many years, and credited several mentors for shaping his career path. His dad encouraged him to be a doctor because they help people in the community. While in medical school, a professor introduced him to radiology, which at that time was mainly the study and use of xrays for diagnosis. Bill credits this professor as a mentor and role model, and decided to concentrate in this specialty. The field rapidly expanded to include numerous types of imaging we know today, including MRI's, CT Scans, Ultrasound imagery and more.
Bill encouraged the club members to be role models and mentors, and to share their expertise to better the community. He has served our community in numerous volunteer capacities over the years, including his current position as the President of the board of directors for the Upper Guadalupe River Authority, and Chairman of the board of directors at the Heart of the Hills Heritage Center.
