Past District Governor and club president Doug Whinnery provided the program on the Rotary Foundation. Doug joined Rotary in 1992, and has served on numerous Rotary District leadership committees.
Charity Navigator has consistently given a four star rating to R.I., citing its transparency and accountability as top notch. The Rotary Foundation is unique because it is managed by member leadership volunteers, who decide what projects receive funding.
There are two types of grants available- District and Global grants, which help either the local projects in the district, or benefit people in need around the globe.
Your gifts can go to a number of categories including the Annual Fund, Polio Plus, the Endowment Fund, Disaster Relief or a particular Area of Focus. The areas of focus include Peace and Conflict Resolution/Prevention, Disease Prevention and Treatment, Water and Sanitation, Maternal and Child Health, Basic Education and Literacy, Economic and Community Development and Environmental.
The Paul Harris Fellowship is awarded to donors who have achieved either $1000.00 in donations over time to the Foundation, or have earned or been gifted Paul Harris points, which count towards the fellowship. There are higher levels of recognition as well, and gifts pledged from your estate or will can help future Rotarian projects and global needs.
