Todd Parton introduced Kerrville mayor Jack Pratt, who is completing his second term in office. Jack’s message was that Kerrville is thriving, and a number of positive things have been accomplished in the past few years, with more to come, including:
Downtown improvements including new city hall and restored Schreiner Building.
Louise Hays Park improvements and the new river trail was completed.
Kerrville/Kerr County was named airport of the year for 2014.
Sale Tax revenues are up the last three years.
A paving plan is underway for a systematic repair of the street systems.
A curbside recycling program was implemented, reducing solid waste disposal.
Unemployment is below the state average.
New Sports Complex is under construction, which will have a significant economic impact.
An effluent re-use pond is planned, as well as an Aquifer Storage and Recovery well.
More jobs per capita were created in 2015 than any other Texas city our size.
Challenges ahead include growing the tax base, balancing commercial and residential taxes and work force housing.
