Family in Rotary 

 

      Prayers are very much in order for our longtime member Dub Haney and his wife Rae.   As many of you know, Rae has been under treatment for cancer for some time and Dub advised me prior to our meeting that she had come under Hospice care earlier that day.

 

      On a happier note, I'm glad to report that the nine-year-old grandson of Bob and Sana Waller has been released from the hospital in Austin.  He had been hospitalized since an automobile wreck that caused him to lose his spleen had suffer two collapsed lungs.  The lungs have been reinflated and he's back with his family.

 NEW SUBJECT: Clyde Day, the guest whom I introduced, is a former chief engineer for the Celanese chemical company, and an elder in the First Presbyterian Church in Kerrville.

  .    In World War II, he served on the Heavy Cruiser Boston, which among other things shelled the Japanese mainland toward the close of the war to help convince their rulers that we meant business when we demanded that Japan surrender.

       Clyde was just recognized for more than 11,200 hours as Hospice volunteer in Kerrville, where he was a co-founder of the Hospice program.

       No wonder he received a standing ovation!
