The family of our veteran member Dr. Bret Ford continues to make us proud. His son Trevor is one of three Tivy High School seniors who have achieved Commended status in the National Merit Scholar Program. The announcement says that Trevor and his two classmates are among just 34,000 students among the millions of high school seniors in the country who earn that Commended status by doing extremely well on the Scholastic Aptitude Tests, otherwise known as the SATs.
As you've heard, Trevor also plays defensive back on the undefeated Tivy Antlers football team.
So, I hope that Dr. Bret will extend well-earned congratulations to Trevor on behalf of our Rotary Club of Kerrville.
Our members also continue to do us proud in the artistic area. Our Past President and resident composer George Eychner was singled out for his trumpet work, and the Sage of the Friendship Table, Tom Terrell, was recognized for his clarinet virtuosity as the Symphony of the Hills launched its 15th season last week at the Cailloux Theater. with a concert whose theme was Heroes.
A number of our fellow Rotarians who are veterans were applauded as they stood while their service songs were played.
And if you failed to see George wearing a Superman cape, after the orchestra played John Williams' impressive theme from that movie, it's your misfortune.
I'm glad to report that Jodie Dunnahoo, the wife of our own Dr. Jay, was well enough to come home after what I think can be described as a neurological incident that caused her to be rushed to San Antonio. Jodie has some rehab ahead of her, and she and Jay continue to need our prayers.
