Dalton Rice, the City Manager of Kerrville, provided an update on various topics of interest and departments at the City of Kerrville.
 
A few highlights:
 
The police department has installed new vehicle cameras and purchased new bodycams for the officers.
 
Planning and Design continues for the new Public Safety Facility building for the City of Kerrville.
 
Equipment and a dog are in use for the new canine unit at the police department.
 
The fire department responded to over 11,000 calls last year.
 
The public Safety Radio system was replaced.
 
A whole blood program was initiated, which will provide blood needed for traumatic injuries in accidents. 
 
An off road response vehicle was purchased, which will provide transport for patients over rough terrain.
 
Kerrville has over 320 lane miles of roads, and 293 lane miles have been maintained or paved since 2015.
 
The Finance department provides financial forecasts and builds a budget each year. Last year, the budget was balanced with $37,600,000 in revenue and expenditures. 
 
The Public Works department manages the city's water supply, among its many duties.  The City of Kerrville has four main sources of water: The Guadalupe River, ASR  wells, Nimitz Lake, and reuse ponds (treated waste water).
 
The Parks and Recreation department maintains 25 parks with about 1,000 acres of land. It also maintains twenty miles of trails, the sports complex and the Olympic pool.
Planning for the upcoming total eclipse has been going on for quite some time, with numerous agencies involved.
