Feb. 21, 2026 8:00 a.m. - 9:42 p.m.
Hello Everyone, The City of Kerrville and UGRA are excited to announce the River Trail Cleanup 2! The River Trail Cleanup in November was such a huge success that we're doing it again! This event will have a slightly different format and some new locations as well. Overall, the goal is still the same - Make our recently reopened River Trail system a beautiful, trash-free space to enjoy! We are looking for a group of about 150 volunteers who are willing to take on the task of cleaning up the trail and river system from the Dietert Center through Louise Hays Park. Volunteers will be split into groups that will cover sections along the trail as well as parks, publicly accessible areas along the river adjacent to the trail, and in the river itself. IMPORTANT NOTE: The United Cajun Navy (UCN) may be working in the area for flood debris extraction that day. They plan to have divers in the water and heavy equipment on the banks. We will not have a kayak element to this cleanup to ensure the safety of our volunteers and to not hinder the efforts of UCN. If you see heavy equipment in an area extracting debris, please use caution and steer clear of the machinery. The event is scheduled for Saturday, February 21, 2026 and will begin at 8:00 AM and run until about 12:00 PM. There are limited slots available and it is RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER, so register today! UGRA will provide cleanup supplies, and the City of Kerrville will arrange for trash removal from the trail. In the registration form, you will be able to decide where you would like to report that morning. Depending on what group you're in, there could be limited parking, so we recommend carpooling if possible. After you register, keep an eye out for additional information about the event. For more information visit the River Trail Cleanup webpage. Useful Links: |

We have a volunteer group project! It's part of the Riparian Restoration effort led by many local partners involved with the Long Term Recovery effort!
This volunteer day will focus on hands-on environmental restoration efforts that support long-term recovery following recent flooding, including work along riverbanks and natural areas critical to the health of our watershed. These efforts will be documented and studied to help inform long-term recovery strategies and best practices for future disaster response and resilience.

The Rotary Club of Kerrville will be presenting information on Water Safety and emphasizing Literacy with the Josh the Otter program at Hunt Elementary on Thursday, April 30th. There will be two sessions in the morning, the first for 2nd graders 8:30am-9am and the second for 3rd graders 9:15am-9:45am. At this location, our focus will be on how to be safe around the water and the importance of floating on your back if unexpectedly falling into the water. All Rotarian Volunteers will be encouraged to help with the presentation/reading and to be at the school no later than 8:15am for the first session. *** Special Consideration: Hunt Elementary lost 2 of their students who were in the 2nd and 3rd grades during last year's 4th of July event. I have assured the Principal that we will not use the word "drown" and we will keep the presentation positive. |
