Willie Ng provided an inspirational program on the power of perseverance. Growing up in San Antonio, he set his sites on becoming a become a police office with the San Antonio Police Department at age 19, and was successful in making it through the application process and the school. A few years later, Willie wanted to advance and became a detective in the S.A. Police Department.

 

In 2003, while still working in the police department, he started a security business, Blue Armor Security Services, Inc., and continues to serve as its owner and President. He pursued his education dreams and received a bachelors degree, and followed up with a masters in Public Administration, all while working full time and running his business.

 

Willie was recently diagnosed with head and neck cancer, but did not want to quit any of his work or education goals while he went through the treatments. He is truly an inspiration, and continues to pursue his work, civic and community interests as he faces perhaps some of his greatest challenges yet.

 

Past President Kristy exchanged her president badge for a regular Rotarian badge, but we know she will continue to be quite active.

Our Rotary club is hosting a golf tournament to raise money for training and education for First Responders in the Kerrville Area. Steve Pautler enjoys his prize scarf from Schreiner University, as several Rotary members names were called to receive free memorabilia from Schreiner. The university is holding a golf tournament to benefit Schreiner Athletics and their student-athletes.
