Stories
Willie Ng

Willie Ng provided an inspirational program on the power of perseverance. Growing up in San Antonio, he set his sites on becoming a become a police office with the San Antonio Police Department at age 19, and was successful in making it through the application process and the school. A few years later, Willie wanted to advance and became a detective in the S.A. Police Department.

In 2003, while still working in the police department, he started a security business, Blue Armor Security Services, Inc., and continues to serve as its owner and President. He pursued his education dreams and received a bachelors degree, and followed up with a masters in Public Administration, all while working full time and running his business.

Willie was recently diagnosed with head and neck cancer, but did not want to quit any of his work or education goals while he went through the treatments. He is truly an inspiration, and continues to pursue his work, civic and community interests as he faces perhaps some of his greatest challenges yet.
Kristy gets a new badge

Past President Kristy exchanged her president badge for a regular Rotarian badge, but we know she will continue to be quite active.

Satellite News
Satellite Meeting July 17th
Speaker: Josh Rodrigue a Parks and Recreation Specialists from Kerrville Parks and Rec

We had the pleasure getting to have Josh come speak to us about what the Kerrville Parks & Recreation do and what the plans are for the future. He also explained to us about how Parks & Recreation do a lot more things then “just mow the lawns”. Even though there is over 350 acres of grass that they have to mow and keep up.
Some of the future plans consist of redoing the HEB tennis courts and possibly adding more courts and other improvements. They are also currently doing a study for the next six to nine months about how they want to update the Olympic Pool. Also the option to possibly having an indoor competition size pool.
There were two local sisters that are also Girl Scouts who raised $795 to have an adaptive chair installed at the Lehmann and Monroe Park here in Kerrville. The raised all the funds on their own and put in some of their own money.
There is a great Activity guide that you can look at on their website with a list of activities that are going on.

Schreiner University golf tournament and goodies

Steve Pautler enjoys his prize scarf from Schreiner University, as several Rotary members names were called to receive free memorabilia from Schreiner. The university is holding a golf tournament to benefit Schreiner Athletics and their student-athletes. The tournament is scheduled for August 4th, at Scott Schreiner Golf Course, and teams and sponsors are encouraged. Contact Rotarian David Reast for more information.  dreast@schreiner.edu
