President Kristy gave a summary of the end of the year accomplishments from our Rotary Club, and it was a great year. Some of the highlights:
 
1. Tree Planting: 192 trees were planted- we were second in the Rotary District in number of trees planted.
2. Labor Day Walk -A Fun:  This event took place at Louise Hayes Park and along the river trail- we promoted Rotary, and 170 people participated.
3. Literacy and Water Safety Program- great participation from our club educating elementary school kids about water safety.
4. First Responders luncheon. George Eychner and Jeff Wendling headed up this committee again, and the program brought recognition to a number of well deserving First Responders, and awarded over $14,000.00 in training scholarships for these individuals.
5. Student Scholarships: $25,000.00 was awarded to deserving high school students on their way to college, and to college students already enrolled to further their education.
6. SuperBall was a great success this year, raising over $50,000.00 to fund the programs and scholarships listed here.
7. Pints for Polio: Cynthia McNeely and her committee did a great job raising $14,000.00 at four locations for polio eradication.
8. Exchange student Javi- Another year of our club hosting a foreign exchange student. Thank you to Jeanelle Peralt, Kim Clarkson and Chris Chedzoy for coordinating, and a big thanks to the Sibert, Hayes and Chedzoy families for hosting Javi.
9. Habitat House- Thank you to Robert and Rebecca Poindexter for organizing the work days for Habitat this year, and all who participated.
10. Interact and Rotaract Clubs were busy this year volunteering their time and raising money for various events.
11. Citizenship Awards- Jeff Anderson and his committee did a great job with the awards to fifth graders at local schools, and Schriener University again offered future scholarships to the recipients.
12. Rise Against Hunger event- great participation from our club and the community, packaging over 20,000 meals to be sent to needy countries.
13. Veterans Day breakfast- great event honoring veterans, organized by new members of our club.
14. Satellite Club was busy with numerous events including volunteering for the State Hospital party for patients, tree planting, Labor day event, Fellowship events, Rise against Hunger and many more.
15. Other programs- Cell phones for Soldiers, Blue Santa, Highway Cleanups, Salvation Army bell ringing, Veterans Day program,.
 
In short, we had a busy year, and we thank Kristy Vandenberg, Robin Miears, Charlie McIlvain , board members and all volunteers and committee members for helping make it very successful.
