City of Kerrville / UGRA River Trail Cleanup2
Feb. 21, 2026 8:00 a.m. - 9:42 p.m.

Hello Everyone,

The City of Kerrville and UGRA are excited to announce the River Trail Cleanup 2! The River Trail Cleanup in November was such a huge success that we're doing it again! This event will have a slightly different format and some new locations as well. Overall, the goal is still the same - Make our recently reopened River Trail system a beautiful, trash-free space to enjoy! We are looking for a group of about 150 volunteers who are willing to take on the task of cleaning up the trail and river system from the Dietert Center through Louise Hays Park. Volunteers will be split into groups that will cover sections along the trail as well as parks, publicly accessible areas along the river adjacent to the trail, and in the river itself.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The United Cajun Navy (UCN) may be working in the area for flood debris extraction that day. They plan to have divers in the water and heavy equipment on the banks. We will not have a kayak element to this cleanup to ensure the safety of our volunteers and to not hinder the efforts of UCN. If you see heavy equipment in an area extracting debris, please use caution and steer clear of the machinery.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, February 21, 2026 and will begin at 8:00 AM and run until about 12:00 PM. There are limited slots available and it is RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER, so register today!

UGRA will provide cleanup supplies, and the City of Kerrville will arrange for trash removal from the trail. In the registration form, you will be able to decide where you would like to report that morning. Depending on what group you're in, there could be limited parking, so we recommend carpooling if possible.

After you register, keep an eye out for additional information about the event.

For more information visit the River Trail Cleanup webpage.

We have a volunteer group project! It's part of the Riparian Restoration effort led by many local partners involved with the Long Term Recovery effort!
This volunteer day will focus on hands-on environmental restoration efforts that support long-term recovery following recent flooding, including work along riverbanks and natural areas critical to the health of our watershed. These efforts will be documented and studied to help inform long-term recovery strategies and best practices for future disaster response and resilience.

Volunteer Details:

  • Date: Saturday, March 7th, 10 AM - 2 PM

  • Project: Seed broadcasting and live tree staking on rough, river adjacent, flood impacted riparian areas. Tree staking may involve use of tools to drive pilot holes for tree stakes.

  • Skills Needed: No prior experience required

  • Be Prepared: Volunteers should wear long pants and sleeves, hiking boots or closed toe shoes appropriate for walking and working along the river on rocky terrain.

UGRA River Clean-Up
Jul. 25, 2026 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

If you have already registered for the 2026 River Clean Up, there is no need for you to continue reading. If you haven’t registered, this is for you!

The Upper Guadalupe River Authority (UGRA) has scheduled the 22nd annual River Clean Up for Saturday, July 25, 2026 starting at 8 AM. The headquarters for the River Clean Up will be at Flat Rock Park in Kerrville and volunteers will spread out to clean up locations throughout the Guadalupe River watershed in Kerr County including dry creek beds, bridges, drainage ditches and roadways. Sign up today and, in the next month, keep your eyes on the UGRA webpage and social media pages for more details. If you are registering as a group, please make sure each participant in the group is registered individually.

Please explore all the content on the webpage including links to the 2024 River Clean Up Survey – We value your feedback and are always working to improve the event for YOU. Also posted to the webpage is the 2024 River Clean Up Press Release and Recap Video.

To those who have participated in previous River Clean Ups, this year will look a little different. After cleaning up around the county, volunteers will still meet at Flat Rock Park to drop off trash, enjoy refreshments and visit the ecological fair. The fair will be expanded to include community resources, art activities, and information about restoration efforts.

Thank you for your interest and we look forward to hearing from you. If you have any questions, please contact me.

UGRA River Clean Up Kerr Kids Art Project
Jul. 25, 2026 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

The River Clean up will be July 25th at Flat Rock Park. For the Ecological and Community Resources Fair booths, we are asking that they be set up and ready to go by 10 AM. That is about when volunteers start bringing their trash back to the park to drop off and enjoy the fair and refreshments. The event ends around noon, so that’s about when y’all can start breaking down as well. We can provide a table, however, y’all will need to bring any chairs or a canopy if desired in addition to all the art supplies or anything needed to do the project.

If Rotarians want to help kids make American Flags from flood wood, they can show up at 10 am or earlier.  Event ends at noon.  Tasks will include helping to make sure the kids have paints, brushes, cleaning and drying spaces, and just artful encouragement.
